A Proposal of Ecologic Taxes Based on Thermo-Economic Performance of Heat Engine Models

چکیده
Within the context of Finite-Time Thermodynamics (FTT) a simplified thermal power plant model (the so-called Novikov engine) is analyzed under economical criteria by means of the concepts of profit function and the costs involved in the performance of the power plant. In this study, two different heat transfer laws are used, the so called Newton’s law of cooling and the Dulong-Petit’s law of cooling. Two FTT optimization criteria for the performance analysis are used: the maximum power regime (MP) and the so-called ecological criterion. This last criterion leads the engine model towards a mode of performance that appreciably diminishes the engine’s wasted energy. In this work, it is shown that the energy-unit price produced under maximum power conditions is cheaper than that produced under maximum ecological (ME) conditions. This was accomplished by using a typical definition of profits function stemming from economics. The MP-regime produces considerably more wasted energy toward the environment, thus the MP energy-unit price is subsidized by nature. Due to this fact, an ecological tax is proposed, which could be a certain function of the price difference between the MP and ME modes of power production. Energies 2009, 2 1043

Sensitivity analysis of dependency of working fluid thermo-dynamics properties to temperature on performance of Gama-type Stirling engine
This research proposes the effect of temperature variation in the Prandtl number on the power, the efficiency and the heat loss of the Gama-type Stirling engine. It should be noted that the Prandtl number included the viscosity, the thermal conductivity coefficient and the specific heat at constant pressures of the working fluid, which the temperature dependency of such first two thermo-dynamic...

NNowadays, car manufactures in order to increasing torque and power with consider to fuel consumption, have swept to production of turbocharged engines. With consider to exhaust gas-temperature rises in boosted engines, recognition of critical locations of exhaust manifold in the worse condition of engine (full load and maximum speed), to prevent fracture of exhaust manifold is very important. ...
متن کاملPerformance analysis a gas turbine cycle equipped with a double acting type stirling engine in a power generating unit
The aim of this study is to investigate the performance of a gas turbine cycle equipped with a Stirling engine from the thermodynamic point of view. In this system, part of the heat loss from the gas turbine is transmitted to a Stirling engine to generate more power. In the proposed system analysis, the governing equations of the hybrid cycle are modeled in MATLAB software and Schmidt and ideal...

This paper is devoted to study the effects of pressure drop in heat exchangers on the dynamics of a free piston Stirling engine. First, the dynamic equations governing the pistons as well as the gas pressure equations for hot and cold spaces of the engine are extracted. Then, by substituting the obtained pressure equations into the dynamic relationships the final nonlinear dynamic equations gov...
